Brand Identity Design: SOUK Social
SOUK Social - a creative agency in Vienna (Austria), specialized in making short content with long impact, specifically reels for Social Media. Their content breathes culture and performs exceptionally well in the Austrian market.
The Founders have an origin from North Africa: Tunisia and Morocco, but they’ve been born and raised in Vienna. Thus, they came up with an attractive name originating from an Arabic word ‘‘SOUK’’ - meaning The Marketplace. Consequently, SOUK represents the marketplace for brands aiming for social media content. Additionally, Tunisia & Morocco are very famous for their oranges production & market distribution - so I’ve introduced a subtle identity spark within the letter ‘‘O’’.
The Founders were exceptionally brave in the Creative Direction for the brand itself. While most social media agencies in Vienna have a conventional visual direction & brand positioning, SOUK Social was positioned to be a bold & vibrant competitor, with a cultural upbringing.
Thus, my approach to designing the identity was very clear: combining a bold premium typeface from Tropical Type foundry with illustrative elements & using paper textures as a footprint of imitation on how Arabic marketplaces look & behave.
SOUK Social currently operates with multiple lifestyle & DTC brands as well as many famous restaurants and cafes in Vienna. Choosing a color palette that will resonate culturally with the brand, but at the same time appealing attractive to the younger audience - was my ultimate goal.
The whole motive behind such a playful, bold & vibrant design system was my intentional vision of SOUK Social - the ultimate, urban & approachable marketplace for brands thirsty for organic social media content that shapes culture.
